Porch Makeover Reveal and RRR Linky Party

Let’s take care of some unfinished business before we take care of some new business…

We’ve been preparing for our first Repurpose-Remodel-Reveal linky party by working on a project ourselves…spicing up the front entry for Whitney’s mom using Whitney’s yellow and jade mood board as inspiration.

And as a reminder, here’s what the porch looked like before we bombarded my in-laws with a visit:
porch before

Phase 1
We started off by making the biggest change to the front door. Some say yellow’s a bold choice, but it was one of the best places to bring in a big pop of color and brighten up the entire porch. It’s probably our favorite part about this whole transformation. We also modified an Ikea mat with a little tape and jade spray paint here.

The cost of phase one put Grandma Coco back $15 for the quart of paint and $15 for the mat. The labor only cost her a week’s worth of feeding our kids clementines and jelly bellies.

Phase 2
We used existing materials and some paint to put together the chevron planter, the side table, and snake planter.

The bench got it’s share of spray paint and we refinished the cushion with some ikat fabric that held the key to our color scheme.

Phase two used only $12 of the fabric and thread, $3 of button covers, $6 in spray paint, but cost 7 nights of listening to us watch movies on their awesomely huge TV until the wee morning hours while they tried to get some shut eye.

Phase 3
The Ikea Skurar hanging planters were originally part of the design, but after purchase, we realized they would have to be modified if we expected the plants to survive any length of time. With a nail and hammer I simply put a hole in the bottom of the vessels to allow for drainage.

Then, to ensure the hole wouldn’t clog up with dirt I added a few lava rocks at the bottom before filling it up with soil.

The planters hang at different heights in the corner and do a nice job of adding interest, especially with the long vines hanging down.

Phase three cost $15 for all three planters, but we raided the ivy from her garden – I guess that’s the price you pay when you invite us to stay over…

Transformation Complete
So what do you think of the porch now? It’s amazing what a little color will do for a drab little porch eh?

Now it’s your turn. Link up your transformation projects – and since this is our first party, feel free to link up as many personal reveals as you’d like – it’ll all be fresh and new here.

Let’s get the party started!

Since we’re not big fans of rules, here are some suggested “guidelines” and some general information for the Repurpose, Remodel, Reveal party:

  • Please link up your transformations only.
  • We’ll be looking for project reveals, repurposing, remodels, decorating, furniture transformation etc., so please no food, linky parties, giveaways, etsy shops etc.
  • We’ll announce the “reader’s choice” based on votes/clicks and our personal favorites next Friday.
  • Feel free to grab a button, link back, or follow us in some capacity, it helps everyone know we’re party animals over here.

We’ll host this party the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month with features the 2nd and 4th Friday, so get working on your next project!

When you're done here, you've got to check out the raging party happening with not just one but nine awesome sites. They're doing a special link party called "What do you want your blog to be when it grows up?"

Thanks for linking up, we're excited to look through your projects!

Please join us the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month for the
Repurpose-Remodel-Reveal
Linky Party!
